5 Fireplace Designs You'll be Seeing in 2023

As a remodel designer, I love creating new designs for fireplaces. One of my favorite ways to design fireplaces is by adding natural materials that will give my client's a timeless fireplace design for years to come. Here's a list of 5 Fireplace Designs You'll be Seeing in 2023.

And while I love design trends, it also has so much to do with the architecture of your home. Use this list to give you inspiration for your fireplace, and as always feel free to reach out to us to help you design yours! We offer both local & e-design services.

1. Plaster Finish Fireplaces with Clean & Modern Lines

There are a few ways to get this desired look on your fireplace. One company that makes a gorgeous specialty finish is Portola Paints Roman Clay. The plaster-look finish with a little bit of color and texture variation gives it character. I love the clean and modern lines of the fireplace designs with the added texture to combine two styles into one. I really feel as though this style will be coming in hot and staying for quite a long time.

2. Natural Stone Fireplaces with Heavy Mortar

Natural stone on a fireplace has been around for centuries and we've seen different types of stone with different shapes, colors, and textures over the years. In 2023 we're really going to start and keep seeing these natural stone fireplaces with heavy grout lines to create a stunning focal point in a living space. (I also feel like we'll be seeing more of this type of design on exteriors as well.)

3. Heavy & Warm Veining Marble and Quartzite Fireplaces

This style is absolutely stunning and brings in such an eye-catching natural material. Marbles come in all different colors - warm veining, cool veining, combinations of both, and I really feel we'll be seeing much more of this type of marble on fireplace designs, kitchen countertops and backsplashes, and bathrooms.

4. Cast Stone Fireplaces and Mantels

What is cast stone? "Cast stone is a highly refined building material, a form of precast concrete used as masonry intended to simulate natural-cut stone".

This more traditional style fireplace will be coming into 2023 interior design combined with deeper colors and more modern light fixtures. It's an absolutely beautiful design and I'm personally excited about this one.

5. Dark Tile and Stone on Fireplaces

I believe we'll be seeing darker, richer colors in every part of the home, but most definitely on tile - specifically fireplaces. This is a stunning example of combing dark tile in an interesting pattern with a dark natural stone. I love every design detail in this space and I especially love the double-sided feature on the back deck.
